NOT FOR SALE will be profiled on the CBS evening news tomorrow night and the CBS morning show Wednesday-Friday. You can find out more about this movement to end childhood slavery by visiting there web site. www.notforsalecampaign.org. You'll find some ways to get involved. Childhood slavery is a worldwide horror and growing daily. Ellen Bolton brought the plight of Haiti's children to my attention just recently. Known as Restaveks (Creole for Stay with) they are often seen only as domestic workers. Children, some as young as 3 years old, are whipped and abused, forced to fetch water, mop floors, wash dishes, care for babies not much younger than they are. They are forbidden to eat at the table and are forced to sleep on concrete or dirt floors. They rarely get any schooling. The United Nations estimates that there are about 300,000 of these children forced to work in unspeakable conditions.
Let's start today to find a small way to be intentional about these things. Jesus had something to say about kids and his language was subversive. It was the language of emancipation in a dominate empire. Send me your thoughts.
This kills me.. so what can we (I) do to help??
