Some of you may remember my post on the artist Tahir Saleh who I have worked with for the past few months. 4 of his paintings were shown in the "On the Rocks" show at Gallery 5. The show ran from July 7th through today. As of this morning none of his paintings sold. I was at his house earlier with Aman, another sudanese guy who is a physician. We were trying to find ways to sell some of his work (4 so far!) for some much needed art supplies and some medical issues. I went down to Gallery 5 with Deborah my wife and two old friends Bob and Alanna Olivadoti after chowing at the Greek festival. Amazingly 3 of Tahir's paintings sold today! On the last day of the show! And, someone was interested in the 4th. Such grace and providence. I told Tahir that I beleived that God was watching out over him. I mentioned that I thought God enjoyed his art. He smiled and said he heard that Jesus was a friend of the poor. I agreed.
